Anyway to over-ride the BOSE software to get the fader to work??

Bear with me...just to make sure.
I have the coupe with the Bose upgrade. I want to try turning it off to get the fader enabled, to get the sound to the rear speakers which I will replace with much higher quality speakers. Is this what you all are saying? Will I get the +-6 or +-5. Is the Mega-Bass different from what the Bose provides? Also with my Bose, as is, is the code 00517 or 00507?

You cannot enable the fader in your coupe, period.
I don't recall the specific code but if you do a search you might find ViaTT's original post on the topic with the code.
The code was given the "mega bass" name by this forum, it does not actually have a name. It is known as the mega bass code because it allows for more bass (although not necessarily tighter bass) than the OEM Bose setting.
Your display will read -6 to +6 for both bass and treble as opposed to the current -5 to +5.
You have only 2 options for enabling the fader:
1. Replace the head unit with an after-market stereo.
2. Replace the coupe with a roadster.
Believe me. Or Ellen (225TTR).

OK, here's what I don't get, (Besides the people here talking as if they have done it.) My unit has a fader button on it but it shows fader disabled on the display. It must have been there at some point. Is there NO way to get it back? Why in the roadster and not the coupe? THis just doesn't make sense to my non technical thick skull.

I don't want to go through a big tear down of the car. Do I just add really high end speakers to the back with an amp? Is there room for an amp without a big problem of construction? My stero guy said he was worried about where to put the amp. If I understand you the rear speakers not powered at all. Can we just amp those thereby improving sound quality?

You really don't want to do that . . .
the bose stuff is all connected to a very low end amp that is pumping out about 20 watts/channel. If you were to install good speakers and an amp in the back of the car, then it would really sound bad. You would need to replace front and rear speakers and hide the amp. You can place an amp in a couple of locations depending on the size amp you get. Their is some room under the rear seat, though not much. The bose amp is beneath the emergency kit in the arm rest behind the passenger seat. You can eliminate the emergency kit and install a nice sized amp there also. People have installed systems keeping the factory headunit.
No matter what you do, eliminate the bose speakers and amp totally for a much improved sound.
