Apparently AoA has mailed out my coilpack recall letter...called VW to check on my other cars

and it seems that VW is holding off on their letters for a least another month or so! I have a 2001 1.8 Beetle and 2003 Jetta GLX that, according the VW rep, "may be affected," but can't tell me when exactly a letter will be sent. VW isn't calling this a "recall" rather a "service advisory." Call it what you will, walks like a recall, quacks like a recall, it's a gawd damned RECALL!
Guess we can say one thing for AoA...they're kissing our asses much sooner than VW.

...it just basically says *some* cars with the 1.8T and 3.0 engines *might* develop a problem with the ignition system. They emphasize that not everyone will have this problem. So it doesn't really sound like a recall per se...

But,when they get enough parts stock piled, then he said they will call it a recall.

Audi will repair my car with an "improved" ignition coil. So it sounds like they will only replace the one(s) that go bad. There is no mention of a recall, nor any offer to replace my current coils.
