Default APR Releases the R1 Diverter Valve!

After 3 years of development, APR has done it again! The world's only diaphragm style diverter valve that is capable of holding extreme boost levels with no loss of response and operation is now available! A diaphragm based valve offers the fastest response possible, faster than the oem 710n, light years beyond the ability of piston style valves and with a lifetime warranty and no torn diaphragms!

The R1 incorporates a cast aluminum lower assembly, cnc'ed top assembly with oem style pressed and rolled vacuum port, fabric reinforced nomex diaphragm and proprietary spring. All metal parts are anodized and the lower assembly is powder coated glossy black for a very attractive engine bay. All R1's are manufactured in the USA and assembled with final quality control at the APR World Headquarters.

The R1 will respond almost 10 times faster than any other aftermarket valve currently available, requires zero maintenance and works for every turbo car in the world that requires recirculation (engine management uses a mass air flow meter). Keep that a secret though because we don't want the competition to learn how APR Tuned Porsche, Audi and VW's make it to the finish line first!

Default if a diaphram, does it install like the OEM? unlike some piston-type DVs?

and is the R-1 guaranteed against failures?

Default I actually got to see one up close and personal on Saturday.

Looks like a well constructed product.

Default

can you quantify what 10 times faster means in actual time?

Default I've swapped my dahlback piston & Forge piston & an aftermarket >>

diaphram (forgot brand).
Any difference in response time was unfelt.
At least the piston didn't rip

Default yeah turbo lag is a marketers dream....

there's got to be some puffing here..but how do they come up with 10 times faster...then again milliseconds, like you allude too, are hard to notice in the pants.

Default As stated before Ive got one.........

I dont see any difference.......
Changed from an EVO piston type.... but I will say this I bought it at the "BBQ" for the BBQ "special" price and paid TOO MUCH.... already discounted ...... just one more thing that PISSED me off about a previously great time.
BTW it was my fourth ....and LAST APR BBQ!
Im not sure about my last purchase they do make a quality product! But Ill buy them from dealers.
Ive spent a bundle there ;-(<ul><li><a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/tt/msgs/1643192.phtml">Discounted Here!</a></li></ul>

Default go do some track events/autocrosses, you'll figure out the different real fast

pistons are slugs, my oem is realistically 4-5 times faster than the new piston i tried

Default It doesn't matter how quick it is when it isn't holding boost or tears....

I've been around 1.8T's since 1999. Seen more than my share of failed stock DV's. I've tried pistons and diaphram models. I've noticed no difference on the track or on the street. One thing I do know is that all the pistons held boost and worked, all the diaphram models either tore, didn't hold boost or well fluttered no matter what I did. I can't shift fast enough to tell the difference that a DV makes in terms of response. Makes for great advertising though.

Will the APR unit be better? Maybe so, but who knows and i'm not dropping another $100+ to find out.
