Me too Sue. This is my "driving car" not a commuter. Both hands on the wheel!

Plus when I shift to 4th I always jam my elbow into anything in the cupholder sending a beverage into the back seat.

Totally agree. Armrest is of purely aesthetic value. At least it looks better than the cupholders.
