Default attempted theft of 225TT, how much $ to replace locks?

On Thursday night around 3am, some bastard crook attempted to steal my beloved 225tt. They drilled out the drivers door lock, and the ignition lock.

1) about how much $ will this cost to repair?
2) are there any special procedures that must be done when reassembling the ignition circut?
3) aside from locking down the car out of sight, what can I do to prevent this again?

PS it was in Belleville NJ

Default Don't know what the locks cost but the keys are a few hundred each.

Sorry to hear this, at least they didn't get the car.

Insurance should cover it, less your deductible-probably worth the effort

Default Well, doubt if you can *prevent* them from trying...

You seem to be in the same area where all the S4 cars area being stolen.
The thieves are relying on the fact that jimmy-ing the locks will dis-able the cheap Audi alarm, which it does.

Get an after-market alarm, wire it to the door switch. This is what I did, so that when they try it again, you have a back-up alarm that will supposedly scare them off, before they try the ignition switch.

Remember, they will only go after the car if it's an *easy* kill. They won't take the time to try to open the hood, and dis-able another alarm.

Also, if they really want your car, you are helpless.

Just my $0.02

Aftermarket Alarm

Default I would (and might) invesitage these

Had these in the UK (awesome security) but I would replace the OEM system so as to only have 1 remote, and these can do the windows up / down etc.

Clifford

Default I have a clifford alarm in my TT. Use clifford to put up windows and arm BOTH alarms, use stock

key/alarm to open trunk and put down windows. I had them wire up the door led so that my drivers side is the clifford status and the passenger side is the oem alarm status.
