Hi, I responded to Ben_"Jamin's" origional post with the suggestion to "Orbit Mt Hood with lunch at the Timberline Lodge". In response to all of the positive replies Ben asked that I post the details of our now, joint proposal! So here goes: We would like to get together for dinner and socializing on friday evening (July 18) at a micro brewery or other fun place in the Portland area (Portland TT'rs, suggestions?) We'll set out fairly early in the AM on saturday the 19th and head up the Columbia River Gorge on hiway 84. We'll stop (or at least slow down!) to view all of the more scenic waterfalls and overlooks. Then we'll continue up the Gorge to Hood River and leave Hiway 84 (after a break for coffee) to travel via hiway 35 up to the Timberline Lodge. Here we'll take in the sights and enjoy a liesurely lunch before returning to Portland via hiway 26. We're hoping that adventurous types from far away, exotic places will join us (like southern Oregon or Seattle and it's environs, heck even California and British Columbia!) Rediculously short notice?? Yes, we know. Ideas and suggestions?, please post em or Email jamin1313@hotmail.com

I also cross-posted this to the Portland Audi TT Club list.
Taking the Columbia Gorge scenic route (Hwy30) would be a bit more scenic then just running down I84.

Hiway 30 for sure. The meeting place/time is still in planning. Any suggestions? Someplace east of the 205/84 intersection would be convenient to TT'ers coming from all directions.

A few of us did a drive out that direction last year but I forget where we met up.
Highway 30 will be slower and probably more traffic (not really anywhere to pass) but it does go right thru all of the waterfalls. It's a nice drive.
