Default Audi TT Quattro mk1 transfer case removal

Hello!
My name is Joran and I'm from Belgium. I drive a Volkswagen Scirocco myself. Currently I am changing the clutch, flywheel and crankshaft seal on my dad's TT (1.8 20VT Quattro) and I came to an issue removing the gearbox. We only need to remove the gearbox to gain access to the clutch and flywheel, but we're having some trouble removing the transfer case. Every video I've watched on youtube, shows the transfer case being mounted by 4 hexagon bolts. When we wanted to remove the transfer case, we saw that this one was mounted by 4 multispline bolts (picture).

We already tried an M10 multispline, which was way to small, and an M12 which seems a little to big. We ordered an M11 multispline socket, but since we're not sure if this will fit I wanted to ask if someone's had the same problem on their TT. Has anyone experienced the same on their TT? Currently we've dropped the subframe, but we can't take the gearbox out since the transfer case hits the engine.
Anybody who could help me out?

M12 triple square was what I used. Im in the process of removing my transfer case so I can bolt up the turbo support bracket I forgot about. I also just found out there is a 6mm allen bolt through the passenger side axle cup that needs to be removed before you can split the transfer case from the transmission.
