Default AWD in the new TT

Is the awd system in the new TT different than that in the current model? To my understanding the current TT/R32 are basically fwd cars with the ability to transfer power to the rear wheels when necessary, but they are not permanent awd vehicles. Can anyone help me straighten this out?

Thanks,
- Chris

Default it will be the same Haldex system

FWD to begin with, with power sent to rear when needed.

Default But some of the press is still talking about a rear biased setup for the mk2 TT

Not sure how they pull that off, if it's simply like the race controller or what.

Default a certain "man" i know told me that...

the new TT is not gonna be RWD biased, supposedly the Shooting Brake concept WAS...however in production the TT will not be....as far as what i've been told.

Default but the haldex system is lighter and more efficient i think.

while i do agree with you that FWD is a bit of a drag......when the car MOST needs traction (weather, hard driving, etc...) the AWD of the car does kick in about right.

Default Whatever. Torsen is better but Haldex is more then adequate

Living in Minnesota and driving through two winters I never felt unconfident. Even when driving around trucks, SUV's and especially econo front wheel drive boxes. With a dedicated set of snow tires there is no loss of confidence.

Default im just saying, i still love my TT regardless...i also did not have snow tires and much of the

loss in traction can be attributed to the sidewall and tread of the all seasons. so i guess it wasnt totally fair for me to say i *hate* haldex, im sure it was put in the TT for a reason, this comment was mostly triggered a drive i took in a friends b5 a4 in heavy snow, it was a tank in comparison..

Default wow, I didn't know that. . So how do they call it Quattro if it's not the same?

I have been considering a TT as my next car, but I'm not diggin the idea of a FWD biased car. .
