Default B&M Short Shifter install question

So first off, Merry Xmas to all you fun folk. Hope it was a great day!

Now, on to the meat of my message:
I got my first mod yesterday, a B&M short shifter. How easy is it to install? I read through the directions, and saw many kinda blurry pictures. Will it really take only an hour to install (ok, triple that for the newbie factor)? I'm 400 miles from home, so if I undertake this project, I have 4 days to make sure it's working properly. Any hints, Fotki album links for the install? I'm extremely excited (but scared this won't be my ony mod and my wallet is cringing already!)

Thanks all for any help you can send my way!

I think Quicksilva described it as a "PITA to install"

Default Let us know how it goes... I got a Neuspeed SS kit yesterday

hope to get it installed in a week or two. Didn't know about dieselgeek until after it was ordered, but I did get cool neuspeed window stickers ;-)

B&M was just too expensive for me... or for me to ask for, but it sounds like a really nice kit once it's all installed.

Good luck with the install.

Default You'll like the Neuspeed SS... Use a small pully puller to get the OE lever off the splined shaft.

10 minute job - tops..

Default A chore...heres whats involved>>>

Worth the effort though IMHO,
1.Jack the car up...
2. Remove the exhaust from the cats back...
3.Remove the heatsheld from the underside of the car @ the shifter location...
4.Get in car and dismantle the OEM shifter.
5.Install is reverse of above...Removing the exhaust and the related heatsheilds and reinstalling em is the bitch.

Note...be sure to get hold of a roll pin to install in the shift lever assemble for the reverse lock out...B+M dont tell you this or supply on in thier instructions..oh and the instructions were done using a FWD car...

Default I was there...a real PITA...although...>>

Someone reported here they did it without and underside dissassembly. If you're new to this and far from home, I would not try it until you're back and have some time/tools...
