The fact that you have a pelvic kidney will make it more difficult to pass a urteral stent retro-grade. Often, the ureter is tortuous and/or the ureteral orifice in the bladder can be difficult to cannulate. If necessary, and if the anatomy allows, a nephro-ureteral drain can be passed from the through the skin, thru the kidney and down the ureter. Typically, this is only done if there is infection (called pyonephrosis). If necessary in the future, and I hope that it isn't, you will be seeing your friendly neighborhood interventional radiologist for the percutaneous nephrostomy/nephrou-ureteral drain. Feel free to ask any questions that might arise.
