Default Back of rear seats

When you lay down the rear seats in my FWD TT, a handle and some kind of bracket stick up. Has anyone taken them off? I'd like the back of the seats to be smooth when folded down for cargo.

Ron:

Those were recently added to the TT's. They are for a child safety seat. Supposedly a strap goes over the seat and through the "handle" and then hooks to that hook.

I saw that in a showroom and asked about it. I had never seen it and felt exactly how you do about not being able to get anything flat on the backs of the seats when folded!

Personally I would remove the hooks. Just make sure that there are not any pieces on the inside that might slide down and then not be able to reattach them at a later date. I might think of putting the screws back in and seeing they will flatten with the carpet.

My $.02

When I put my rear seats down they are flat. Perfect for my golf clubs.

Just FYI ... my TTQ was assembled in 10/99. Not sure when Audi made that change to the rear seats.

I looked at them and can't find any screws! Looks like the only way to get rid of them is to break them off -- hope I'm wrong.
