Default Bad steering feel after tire change...

Help, I need to know that I'm not crazy. I just had my dealer replace my worn RE040's with a new set of S-03's. They performed an alignment as well.

There were three problems apparent when I picked up the car. First was that they overinflated each tire by 10 to 13 psi, which of course I took care of. Next was vibration through the wheel at 60+ mph. Third was dead or numb steering feel on center. At speed, the wheel can be moved a bit without turning the car, which feels awful and not like the car that I dropped off.

I brought it back, and they balanced the wheels (again?) They also told me that the tech drove it and found nothing wrong with the steering, and that these tires are soft, and that would explain the different feel.

The vibration is gone, but the steering remains wrong. So, they're feeding me a line, right? Why would new S-03s feel worse than the old stock tires? I've been to this dealer three times in a month, and I'm disgusted with their service department.

Thanks...

Jason

Default give it about 500 miles, then make your judgement.

same thing happens to most new perf tires. Shold get better as the wear in a bit.

What psi did you set them to? They will need to break in and burnoff that outer layer.

These tires are very responsive -- no "numb" feel

They do seem to stick well, but I don't trust the car much right now.

Default Scuff the mold strings off of them and they should wear in to a good feel. Right out the box vague

feeling on center is fairly normal.

Default Tires have strings of mold on them?

Sounds like they were stored in my old college fridge!

Default Hmm, should feel OK. Try another dealer? Checked the suspension?

The softer tire should make it more responsive so the dealer is not explaining matters correctly. Have they checked the steering wheel and suspension? Is wheel centered? Sometimes the alignment won't be done correctly. Have a friend try it or try out another TT member with the same tires - but should not feel numb.
