Bad Valve Cover Gasket, Engine Tapping and Loss of Boost
#11
Not sure if that's the coolant flange, can't quite picture it without having the car in front of me
I had similar power drop at high revs tho, feels like heat soak but without high temps. New temp sensor fixed it. Of course fixing that and getting power back up showed up a marginal coilpack and then I had misfires. It does seem at times that problems just cascade with these cars. Keep at it tho, it's always worth it once it's all back together

Well...it is the coolant hose flange...
and it isn't too bad to remove. I ordered a new temp sensor (with o-ring), a new u-clip (holds the sensor in place), and a new coolant hose flange (with o-ring). The folks at www.thepartsbin.com had the parts and they will be here on Tuesday. I will let you know how it turns out.
Also, this article was pretty damn useful even though it isn't for the TT: https://www.audiworld.com/tech/eng76.shtml
Thanks again...I can't wait to see if this fixes my boost problem. Only one of many problems, but it just isn't fun to drive the TT without the BOOST.

John...you rock...
I changed out the coolant hose flange (that was leaking) and the coolant temp sensor...plus some o-rings and the u-shaped clip. Two birds, one stone... My coolant leak is gone and the boost is back!! Thank you so much!! I can't believe it was something so small...and I never would have thought of it...thank you, thank you, thank you!!
