Default Best place to splice for mechanical boost gauge?

Should I be more concerned with boost at the intake manifold or a spot closer to the compressor outlet.

Default Manifold would....

be fine. Think you might have to drill and tap it for a direct connection. Other place is the fuel pressure regulator. I don't like doing it on the regulator because, if you have a vacuum leak, it might cause problems with the fuel delivery. The third option is the vacuum line to the DV. This is the one that I use. Maybe someone will post on any advantage using a certain one. I like the one to the DV because I can tell at idle if the DV is working ok. If I ever take the manifold off I will probably move it to there.

You can use the pressure line to the N75.

Default I wouldn't...

just for the fact of what it controls. Any vacuum leaks in this area would not be good. On the fuel regulator you would just run too rich at lower engine speed. Have no idea what would happen at the N75 if you lost vacuum for some reason.

Default Wrong.

When you loose pressure to the FPR you will run much to lean which can kill your turbo and engine in a short time.
If you loose pressure to the N75 you will only go into limp mode because of boost getting to high.

Default Best place? Here. Line 1.

The main line coming from the manifold, is at the bottom here. It has the enlarged curve at the back end, because I did not trim the hose, when I added in the "T" connector.

Default Ok..

so we both agree that useing the FPR is a bad idea. Are you saying the N75 line is a better place than the DV or the manifold? That would help answer the persons original question.

Default Jeff? Does the......

180 have a line located in the same place? I know the manifold is pointed the other direction on a 225 than the 180, but is this line a common on both engines.

Thanks for posting the pictures!

Default Re: Ok..

The manifold is also a good place. Don't know which I would prefer. But never touch the FPR line.
