Stock tires are horrendous for snowy NJ. What are the best recommendations for tires and is it better to get 17" snows on stock rims or go for a 16" steel wheel and snow tire package. Thanks fellow TT lovers ))

Hi, I went out and bought dunlop Wintersports. I find them quite a nice "sport winter" tire - they actually handle very well, on or off of snow. I'm in upstate NY, so I would think our winters are similar. We had a nice big snowfall recently, and handling was predicatble and strong. Not the best snow tire in the world, mabye, but certianly more than adequate, and do their job nicely. I would buy them again if the need arose. Also check out Hockapolita (sp?) - also supposed to be on par.

I put Michelin Pilot Alpins on 16" Bobet wheels from The Tire Rack. The Pilots handle snow nearly as well as Blizzaks but are far superior(wear and handling) when driving in normal conditions.

I have 17 " blizzaks which have been great. I was told I will only get three 4 month seasons out of them, but I am impressed. I was worried until it started snowing.
