Default Blow-off-valve sound when shifting>>

not on my car, on a 1.8T Jetta. When I shift under boost, I hear the typical blow-off-valve flutter sound. Checked and it has the stock 710 valve. I don't see any obvious boost leaks.

Is this sound evidence of a boost leak or a bad 710 valve? Also, does the other valve near the 710 (p/n 034129101A) ever go bad? It looks kind of crusty but not obviously leaking.

TIA!

Default The latest valve is the 710N. All previous valves had problems...>>

with the diaphragm ripping.

BTW - are you going to Roebling Friday. I'll be there in a tech capacity. The R32 will also be there.

Default I'm convinced some set-ups just flutter...>>

I'm running the new Optimus Forge adjustable Diaphram and no spring, tension or orientation changes will make the flutter go away. Performance is great though. Crisp release and holds boot to wherever you want to go.....

It's got to do with Valve body volume, release travel etc....

Chuff Chuff sounds are compressor stall though and are the result of too stiff a spring and the valve not opening on vacuum correctly...

Default This one was definitely leaking.... replaced it, and sound is gone>>

seems to hold boost better too. Was throwing this code:

17608 - Boost Pressure Control Valve (N249): Mechanical Malfunction
P1200 - 35-00 - -

Hopefully this was the cause.
