are like 1000$....so does it sound right that audi is charging you for 3000$ for labor?????
if you figure, worse case, 100$/hr...that's 30HRS of work...you can rebuild the ENTIRE motor in that time....
I say, get another opinion. If they will not cover under warranty...find a good speed shop. You will be happier in the end, IMO.

taking to turbo apart and putting it together takes about 10 hours. and the dealers turbo probably costs $2000.
the only way he is gonna save money is if he does it himself or gets a friend to do it.

but here is an entire KIT for 2200$ and that is for 2 k04's...... if the page opens to the audi link, scroll down and you will see the Rs4 kit...
and that is without shopping....
Plus with all of the parts readily available to swap, i would be willing to bet you CAN rebuild a 1.8T in 30 hours or so.....
Just my opinion.....<ul><li><a href="http://www.ecstuning.com/stage/edpd/pagebuild_v2.cgi?home=Audi">http://www.ecstuning.com/stage/edpd/pagebuild_v2.cgi?home=Audi</a</li></ul>
