Default Blowout on Bridgestone Potenza Tires

<center><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/AudiWorldPics/2000/Clip0001.jpg"></center><p>I have 225QC with 4,000 miles on it.

This tuesday as I drove to work on the highway (clean road and clear day)
the left front tire blew out on the sidewall. I might have hit a bump or 2 but nothing significant. I lost control of the front end and swerved into the slow lane and back onto the fast lane beofre stopping on the shoulder. The result was 2 totalled tires and 2 damaged rims (all on the left side).

I have been on the phone for hours with Bridgestone and AoA. They have been nothing but hostile and evasive.

The question is:
1) Any one else have problems with this particular model of tires. If so, what have you done about it.
2) I heard the S4 had bubble problems on the sidewalls. Does anyone have any links or references or details?

Thanks for your help.

Default Wow! Both sides of this tire blew? Both tires on left blew out both sides also?

This seems to me to take an awful amount of force to do this in normal driving.
How big a bump?
How fast were you going?

Default Wow. Glad you're okay.

I know that there's a least two people who have posted to the forum about defective tires but nothing as spectacular as your problem. You may need to go do a search to find the posts (approximately June and July). You'll find photos of their defects posted.

Keep us updated.

Default It was a small bump and ...

I was going around 70. I am sure there is a defect...

I mean new tires should not blow out at the sidewall on the highway.

I've never seen a tire failure quite like that!

Default We have seen our share of sidewall bubble but no failures like THAT!

That's either a mfg. defect (not saying on all of the tires, but that one was made poorly) or your pressures were wildly off. I'd guess underinflated. Man, you couldn't have split them off with a box knife any better.

I haven't noticed any catastrophic failures like that on the S4 forum nor was a failure like that discussed in the BusinessWeek article about the 040's and S4's.

I KNOW the NHTSA wants to know about this. File a report on their web site. I can guarantee you will be contacted.

Glad you are ok.

I got a sidewall bulge in my 040's after I hit a curb hard, but wow, yours is pretty severe.
