Default The side walls look like they wear cut off by the rims...swerve left rim cuts out outside..

and swerve right rim cuts out inside (assumes tire on drivers side...if opposite then switch around descript above). Seen this happen with low profile tires that go flat and car can't stop immediately (such as you described). What's with the strip pealed off in the inner wall of tread?

Default Scary, real scary. You have the toppers for catastrophic tire failure, no question!

E-mail photo to NTSB, AoA and Bridgestone.

Look at those dings on the rim; have you been scraping kerbs?

Not that I know

I do not park it on the street and do highway driving mostly.
Almost strictly company parking lot to covered garage...
(also no valet parking)

I think the rim damage was from after the blow out.

Default Follow-up question - winter tires...

I am thinking of getting tires (and new rims) for the winter. Any suggestions?
I live in the NYC metro area. I'm thinking tirerack.com

I'd like to hear from people who have gone through last winter...

Thanks again for the support and feedback...
(anyone know any good laywers, news people or Ralph Nader )
