Default Bogus coolant light

Engine coolant light comes on after starting the engine. Shutting down and restarting gets rid of it.

This happened to me about a year ago. Even though the coolant was above the minimum mark, the dealer added more coolant and the problem was gone. Maybe my sensor is a little off.

The question is: What coolant should I buy? I live in the Bay Area, CA.

Thank you,
Ali

Default i would use only the red audi junk...its overpriced...but alot

of other off the shelf brands arent the same..sides using anyting else voids warranty...most others are green so dealer would probably notice if you added abit...no doubt would blame all your faulty sensors on it as well...also might refuse to fix faulty stereo and brakes ....because its a well know fact of the cause and effect of using non audi coolant and what it does to cd changer and stereo..

Default I have this same recurring problem...

Three times they've topped off the coolant, but the warning light comes back within a month. My mission at the next service is to get them to address the underlying problem (most likely a sensor, I imagine). Wish me luck :P

In any case, you shouldn't have to buy coolant. The dealer should add coolant (or fix the sensor) for free, assuming you are under warrantee still.

Default Sensor is more complicated than that...

Take a look at it, I think it also checks conductivity. I got an error light when I followed my normal process of using straight red and then doing the other 50% with distilled water. Use a premixed 50/50.
