boost machine, dv relo (revisited), and gauges.
so, i built a boost machine (which tricks your wastegate into giving you more boost, at a custom level -- see <a href="http://public.fotki.com/ttschwing/boost_machine_and/">schwing's fotki</a> for more) and installed that the other day.
here's a shot of it in the car, pulled out of it's usual location so you can actually see it. the silicone hose in the pic is bent funny due to my tugging it out of its place -- it's normally straight.
<img src="http://www.personal.kent.edu/~cplasket/9sept/slides/9sept28.JPG">
if you notice, one side is clamped with a hose clamp, and the other with a zip tie. yep... i ran out of clamps. i bought more, but then the zip tie faught with me when i tried to remove it, so i decided that it could stay for a while -- at least until i feel like pulling the larger snips out.
i also cleaned up my dv relocation, using different (and better) tubing.

there's rubber tape around the silicone hoses (the white and black stuff under the clamps) for a bit of peace of mind.
and, so i can tell what the hell is going on with all this new goodness, long-overdue boost and a/f gauges!

those are the defi units, and based on what they tell me and what the VAG tells me, they're quite accurate. i'm going to end up pulling them apart and removing the orange crap from the back of the faces so that they illuminate white with a red needle. it's not bad as it is, but i'd prefer it to be a bit more uniform.
i'm now pushing a hair under 25 lbs of boost. mwa ha ha! car feels great.
go <a href="http://www.personal.kent.edu/~cplasket/9sept/index.html">here</a> to see the rest of the pics. (just glamour shots, no work-in progress pics)

no worries...just curious..the boost machine intrigues me>>
its something i may attempt this winter...does the boost spike at 25psi and then drop off?? Do you know what you peeked at prior to schwings magic?

with the ecs n75 (the H valve), i spiked at 23. this doesn't spike...
very smooth since it's using the signal from the stock n75.
basically, the it climbs to 25, sticks there for a second, and then slowly drops off.
it's fully adjustable, though, so i could turn it back down to stock, or turn it up and throw an over-boost code.

LOL... it's funny... they gave a buddy of mine crap for having the same intake as i do (ttda)...
when the rest of his car is stock.
i guess they just kinda like me for some reason (knock on wood).
they treat me REALLY well, and a lot of the techs have actually complimented me!! =O

I have mine adjustable inside...>
I used an electronic regulator so I can turn the boost up and down. After installing it and playing with it for 2 days, I haven't touched it since. I also used only the regulator w/o the one-way valve.
