Boost machine expectations. A little long maybe. I'm trying to ...
figure out if I have a boost leak in my system somewhere. My Geniscan doesn't register any error codes and after reading a billion BM posts I understand that a boost leak may not register.
So, I have to deduce that maybe my expectations of the BM and my GIAC chip are a little too high. I am trying to weed through the myths, Yeti sightings, and urban legends.
With all things functioning correctly should I be getting full boost (say above 20psi) from 3k rpms to 6k+?
Currently my boost spiking around 25psi then drops faster than my 401k to about 12 psi (4.5k rpms) and holds? The taper has been consistant since I installed my BM about a month ago. I'm at about 5 turns max boost and 1 turns onset.
Thanks.

Not normal....>
Something is wrong that is probably not boost machine related.. First, turn it down 1/2 turn or so. 25 is a little high. The rapid drop to 12 is probably the ECU pulling things back because it doesn't have enough of a fuel signal to suppport the boost request......This usually points back to a weak MAF....
With Giac you should be able to boost 23 and hold at 19 or so all day long, although there has been some flaky programming out there recently.....

Guys, I had this exact problem... word for word... not 5 weeks ago.
I replaced the MAF sensor (per Steve's recommendation), and the problem was completely resolved. It now pulls harder than it ever has before.
