Default Are brake pad and rotor install a DIY job? If so, any hints or tips?

I just received 4 new, slotted rotors from ECS and Porterfield R4S brake pads for my 180 FWD TTC. I'm pretty handy and would like to attempt this myself, but I'm not too proud to go to a professional for installation if need be. Thanks in advance.

Default There are a few of us that have it detailed, and a lot more that have done this.

If you are handy, you can do this easily.
You will need a few specific tools.
I have them listed on this page.

Most specifically, a tool for the rear cylinders.
DO NOT force this back in place.
you need to rotate the cylinder, at the same time you push it back into the housing.
(you should not need to "bleed" the cylinders.)
This is an 'Edging Clamp" about $3 at a decent hardware store.

This is the "other" tool, about $9. People have reported this is hard to use.

Get yourself some Disk Brake Quiet, and figure out a way to champher the leading edge on the pads.
I used the ever-popular belt sander.<ul><li><a href="http://home.attbi.com/~jbipes/ttr/frntrotors.html">Pad and Rotor Install</a></li></ul>

True! You may need one of these "Professional Tools" for disk removal.

Default That sucker was on there....>>>

I still haven't tackled the other side for the brake cooler ducts. Bought a dead blow hammer though so that should help....:-)
