Brilliant Black vs. Raven Black

I have not seen a Brilliant Black finish in daylight. I believe it is a simple high gloss black. The Raven Black Pearl is related to metalic finishes except that the flakes are "colored" rather than chrome. On an overcast day I would imagine that it is hard to tell the difference. I drove my car three days under overcast skies before I saw what the finish looked like in the sun. (of course it was overcast when I took those photos, and it is raining now)
The photo here was taken by flash, and extremely emphasizes the pearl effect. Outside in the sun, the effect is no stronger than any other metalic finish in a dark color. Also the percieved color may depend on the viewing angle. Hope this helps.
P.S. I think I read somewhere in this forum that the pearl paints did not show dirt as bad as normal ones. I don't have any comment at this time...

My Brilliant Black/ebony has a great finish and is super shiny - when washed. The super shine declines with the introduction of dust, grime, and LA Smog. My sense is the Raven has a deeper luster to it and thus would be easier to keep clean.
All is relative. My car washing skills have improved greatly. My chief job in life... Professional TT washer and Brake Dust Technician.
Anyway - my 2 cents.

When there is no clear coat on the paint, you find traces of the paint color on the tissue when you apply polish or wax. And I found none when I waxed my brilliant black paint. And it's so shiny !
So I think it is clear coated.
I like this colour more than the raven black because it's perfectly pure.
Franck
