Britax Roundabout in TTC?! People said that's the one to get but it doesn't fit in the backseat.

When he drives with me, he can't fall asleep :-), besides, the G-forces keep him pinned in place.

Default IMO, the front seat in the TT with the airbag off is just as safe or safer than the back seat.
As with everything to do with kids, this is taken to absolutes. I have seen recommendations is literature specifically recommending infants travel in the FRONT seat beside the driver when there is no airbag so the driver can attend to the child. Ascend - yup, that's the one. Forward-facing is okay starting at 20 lbs.

Default I have the same car seat and it works fine with...
my 30 months old (32lb) son in the back and my 5'7" wife in the front passenger seat almost all the way forward.
