Default Broken Glove Box

Went to open and handle came out in my hand. Lower hinge pin is broken. Box opens otherwise. Did a search and found this post:

<a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/tt/msgs/1252786.phtml">https://forums.audiworld.com/tt/msgs/1252786.phtml</a>

Could the author of the post or someone provide instructions for fabricating a new hinge pin?

Any other options besides that or replacing the whole box?

Default Yeah right - I gather that's the only option the stealership is going to give me?

One would think you'd be able to replace the plastic door insert that has the hinge pins or at worst the door itself. Seems extremely wasteful to have to replace the whole box just because the hinge pins for the handle weren't designed to last the lifetime of the car.

Default Mine broke too..I replaced the hinge with a set socket screw (#8-32x3/8') from Home Depot

I first drilled a hole for it, and then I screwed the socket screw in. I chose a socket screw, because they are headless. If you need I'll take some pictures of my setup

Default Happened to me, too...

Do you still have the little part that broke off? I glued it back on with JB Weld. If you look at it, there's a shoulder which the handle rides on, anthing below that is fair game to build epoxy up around. I reinforced the top one at the same time. So far, so good.

You will probably want to remove the glove box to do this, so you can keep it at the right angle to prevent the epoxy from sagging.
