Yesterday I noticed a sort of a buzzing and rattling sound coming from behind the A/C control panel. I'm assuming this sound has nothing to do with the A/C itself because it can be heard with the A/C switched off, it's just coming from behind the panel. The sound is not very loud and I can hear it only when driving very slowly or not moving at all with radio turned down and A/C fan off.

Funny thing is that if I use my finger to block the small grille above the A/C temperature display the buzzing sound stops immediately and begins again when the block is removed. There must be some kind of temperature/illumination sensor behind that grille? Oh, and the engine has to be turned on for the sound to be heard.

So my question is that has anyone else heard this sound? Is it normal or some new resonance sound I've got? I had to drive on pretty bumpy roads so that might have caused it. Comments?

In Italy, everything makes this rattle.

According to the dealer there is a small fan inside the dash contol unit, hence the grill, and this was the cause of the rattle.
Fixed by replacing the dash control unit under warranty.
I would think the TT shares the basic unit with its lesser sibling.
