Default With A/C on. my car seems to be quicker/more boost.

sounds a little odd, but every time I run with my a/c on the car seems to have more pep. Conventional wisdom would say otherwise as a/c is taking more operating power away from vital components. I'm not understanding the mechanics behind this. Maybe it's just my silly imagination.

You reworked it to send the cooler air directly through your intake? Nice mod!

Default Ok, I knew I would get ribbed. Seriously though....

the boost seems to be more, that is...once I get past the intial turbo lag.. but then again, most of the time with a/c on the turbo spools up quicker. Strange!

Default Me too. Sensation goes away when it's really hot out, though.

It idles more smoothly, too.

Default You need...<edit>...>>

A buTT calibration!

Actuallly though, the Motronic is a Torque based system. It's possible that the AC engaged changes the torque algorithm..

Default Correct again Steve! -->

Motronic 7 systems are providing more torque at idle RPMs to power the A/C. If you have a boost gauge it's pretty obvious to see the reduced vacuum.

The motor is starting at a higher output --> turbo lag is reduced and the car feels like it has more pep.

Default Wiki is an interesting place... most of that article is correct but -->

CIS is Continuous Injection System not Constant Idle Speed. They seem to have confused older Bosch CIS fuel injection with the Motronic system. All Motronic systems are lambda (oxygen sensor) based. The first one was produced in 1979 well after leaded fuel was phased out.

Early CIS systems (I have one) are mechanical and meter the fuel by measuring the air mass with a plate in the air stream levered to a metering valve. Very reliable but difficult to fix if they break.

Quick Reply: With A/C on. my car seems to be quicker/more boost.
