Default calling meem, gesTTalt, Jeff Bipes... all you paint guys >>

brief history... this was a very small paint bubble on the roof rail. It was probably there when I purchased but I never noticed.

<img src="http://www.squarewave.us/army/andrew/ttStuff/IMG_2085.jpg">

Over the years (purchased in feb 2000) it has gotten progressively worse. Recently the paint has peeled. My main concern here is rust (which it is not doing as of now) I really don't want to pay a lot to repaint this one spot because after 4 winters in boston.... I might as well paint the whole car.

DIY suggestions?

andrew

Default Sorry, no good news here

There must have been some contamination during the painting process. I'm afraid there is nothing you can do about it short of a respray.

I don't think this is a DIY job.

If its factory paint, i believe the paint has a lifetime warranty.

Default andrew, i just had those replaced under warranty ...

same problem -- it's a well-known defect but i'm not sure if they'll fix it outisde of warranty. however, they (clair collision) left some scratches in the roof when they fixed it -- so now the car's heading in to get the whole roof repainted (again, under warranty).

Default well-known defect ... most every tt coupe i've seen has this to varying degrees

it's strictly a problem with the roof rails.

I think we have longer paint warranty...that'd be too hard for a diy...get dealer to take care of it
