I think the biggest barrier for me has been the impact to the warranty. But I've recently talked to Speedsport Tuning in Norwalk, CT and I don't think the warranty will be an issue, considering that the APR chip, in stock mode, is not detectable by the Audi service tools.

Default A chip isn't invisible to someone looking for it...and you don't have to pop open the ECU to find it

Just hold in the cruise control button and see if the CEL light flashes. "Voila..he done gots himself a chip!"

Default The xtra power comes at the expense of shortening engine / drivetrain life. Plus, despite the talk

of substantial hp gains and peak torque gains, the real world benefits seem quite modest given the downside (which includes a lot of nagging problems for folks around here).

Default CEL = Check Engine Light

APR uses the cruise control button and CEL to allow a driver to switch programs between stock, chipped, valet and race.

Default Thanks Bob! I certainly had inspiration for it...lol

The car goes back in on Tuesday for a new radio and instrument cluster. Finally (read: hopefully), the beeping and flashing will come to and end!!!

Default I disagree that the drivtrain and bottom end will be affected by a modest chip addition...

The haldex has been rated at 600+ hp and the lower end of the egine is certainlly sufficentlly engineered to withstand a modest 15% incrase in hp./tourque. I am sure those with a more technical predisposition can give you sepecifics on opperational ranges for the core components. :-)
