I'm due for my semi-annual visit to mom via the Long Island ferry. Last time down, the alarm kept going off because of the vibration below deck. I ended up unlocking the car just to shut it up.
Is there a way to keep the car locked without arming the alarm short of pulling fuses?

The disable button is in the "tunnel" ahead of the shifter. Park the car, OPEN THE DRIVER DOOR, then click the button, the light should glow red, then get out and lock, the blinking LED on the door will behave differently than you are used to which confirms the change. After you unlock the car, the disable function will reset so that if you lock it again it will arm like usual.
The key thing that I found counter-intuitive is in capital letters! If you skip this step then the button does nothing.
Best of luck to you.
