Default warranty will reject the claim....

A timing belt, like any other belt is considered a "wear item" and NOT covered under warranty.

..however, if the dealership determines that a component such as the water pump or the tensioner seized or broke and caused the timing belt to break, they will cover it. Pray that they can pin the blame on a component and not that the belt simply broke on its own.

Default happened to me early on (around 17K)...was a fuel pump failure.

was under warranty....dealer replaced fuel pump and senders.

i was driving down the street...experienced a slight stutter, then complete shut down. pulled the car over (coasted), let the engine cool a little...tried to start it up again. no go. had it flatbed to the dealer.

Default What about the TENSIONER? If it fails, the belt may look fine.

The pistons and valves will not.

Default check this out

http://www.eaglewarranty.com/docs/freedom_plan_pg3.pdf

It says it is covered as long as I follow the owner's manual's maintenance schedule. Anyone know for sure, when it suggests to change the timing belt?

And with that being said, the belt really does look fine.

Default 105K is the rec....>

If the timing belt is not turning when you engage the starter, BUT the accessory belt is, as you've described, you have some stripped teeth or a relaxed (failed) tensioner......End result is the same as a broken belt

Default I have a two week wait...

at my preferred shop before they can fit it in. In the meantime I suppose I will just hope the warranty covers it...
