Car jerks when making U turn or tight lefthander...normal?

If your an inexperienced manual shift operator you may not have the skill yet to go slowly in first or second w/o jerking the clutch.
If that's not the case I had a fuel pump problem that caused a similar problem.I would say it's not normal & these are just a couple of guesses.
