Default Car shuddering this morning - check engine light... what it is?

Started this car this morning and it was shuddering slightly. Thought maybe it was just a cold engine, so I let it warm up. It warmed up, still shuddering, only at a lower RPM. Backed it up a bit, check engine light went on, shut the car down. When I got out, it smelled a bit like sulfur... any ideas?

I chipped about a month ago, it's a 180TTR, 2002. I'm hoping the possible void in warranty isn't going to affect this.

Default Sounds like your engine was flooded and you had misfires....

Did you start the car the previous day to move it or something it didn't let it warm up. If so, that will do it.

Drove around all weekend with no problems. Probably put 80 miles on the car yesterday alone.

Default Faulty ignition coil, you know, that whole recall thing.

They were supposed to have replaced it a while back when I had some other work done. Guess they didn't. Bastages.

My 50k is coming up very shortly and I'd like to have that replaced under warranty (even tho i don't have problems with that *knock on wood*)

Default sounds like a dead coilpack - dealers are aware - will replace free of charge, even if you're out ..

of warranty.

Default Follow up!

AoA came and towed me to the dealer, and replaced part number 06B905115J (Ignition coil). I called at 7am, was out of the service dept. by 10am.

Not so bad.

I think they should've put more detail in the mailings they sent out regarding the problem - the car felt like it was shaking, presumably because three out of four cylinders were running. It's a pretty unnerving thing - they could've said 'hey, the car will shudder a bit and there will be a loss of power, if this happens, call us'. Would've saved them and me some time.

Eh.

did they replace all 4 CPs or just the dead one? They should have replaced them all.
