Default Chip / ECU questions

So if there's a forum on a ton of ECU information send me there and call me a noob and I'll be happy haha. But I couldn't find much so here's a few questions.

I am looking to tune my engine's (02 225) ECU and not too sure of the options. I was planning on talking to a local tuning shop (dynospot racing in San Jose, CA), but I also stumbled across the "access ports" on the TTshop website and wondered if anyone had any experience with those? They seem convenient because I am able to do it myself but I'm also not sure if they are the "cheap" solution? Also, if a chip is the best bet, which chip would you guys recommend?

Anyways, any help I can get is awesome - thank you!

I've used an AccessPort device with other vehicles and it's very good for logging in-use data. However, using that data to create a custom tune demands a good deal of automotive ECU and engine knowledge and experience.

A local tuning shop is an alternative but make sure they have Audi experience and especially AWD capability if necessary.

APR or dealer-certified (and warrantied) StaSIS ECU tune would be a better way to go imho.

Been reading quite a bit more since I posted that... you'd go APR over REVO?
