Default Chipped (Stage 1) 180Coupe Quattro vs. Stock 225Coupe Quattro

180TT Coupe Quattro with Garret Stage 1 Chip vs. 225TT Coupe Quattro bone stock. Which one is faster in the quarter-mile?

I know the 225TT makes more horsepower, but the chipped 180TT makes more torque (I think).

I'm trying to decide whether to get the 180 and chip it, or get the 225TT and leave it stock.

Thanks for the input,
KJ

225 has much more potential.. you can never get enough power

Default I would say that hps being equal the 180 should outrun a

225 due to it being a slightly lighter car....but you have to keep in mind that the 180 with a K03 is limited in how much boost it can make as opposed to a tuned k04 which has a higher flow rate... If I were you I would opt for the 225 because it has a stronger motor and it has a more robust transmission that can handle higher power outputs...

Default I think you'll find that...

...The TT isn't a quarter mile car. There's lots of reasons to get the 225 even if it isn't faster than a chipped 180. You've got the better transmission, re-inforced engine parts, and some umm...Other stuff that I'm sure someone else can list out.

If you're just interested in getting something to win in the 1/4, you might want to look at another car because there's lots of stuff out there that will blow away a TT in the 1/4 for way less money. However, there's lots more to a car than running the 1/4.

Default The 180 chipped is faster in every way than the stock 225.

0-60, 1/4 mile . . . top speed. You name it. BTDT

Default Larry.....other than the removal of the top speed limiter..theres no way

a chipped 180 will outrun a 225 that has no hp increase but its limiter removed as well....you need 6th gear to get past 160mph

Default I find it hard to believe..

that just the chip will be able to outrun a stock 225. Maybe chip+exhaust and a few other minor bolt ons you'll be able to keep up with a stock 225, but I personally don't think a chipped 180 would be faster than a 225 (personal experience), or maybe my driving skills just suck ;P

Default I gotta give you the link where the MTM stage three is clocked at 278kms

on the autobahn...MTM says that it will only do 275 without the upgraded rear wing. Ive read your posts a agree about limited top end do to drag. Ive had my car to about 240ish it was still pulling...drag effect was apparent...but I think the underlying concern should not be can it do it but rather should you do it...high speed lift at high speeds with this platform is a definite consideration. I know my speedo is accurate because I was driving beside two of my buddies in different Porsches...all had same readings...but I think if people want to hit maximum in 6th they had better get out the duct tape...cover the hood seems, take off the windshield wipers, side mirrors and only do it with a maximum half tank of gas...I would be surprised to see a 180 chipped break 160mph...according to MTM it cant be done...oh and if you try this....you better understand braking dynamics at over 160mph... cause if you hit something at that speed...yer not going to like it

Default Given a safe roadway, I'd ride in/drive a Vette C5 @ 278 kph, but no..

way a tail-lifting TT. That's akin to 'practice bleeding', IMO.

All I was saying was no way to a chipped 180 doing 160 mph without help. Ya'll can't rape Mother Nature, as an old friend used to say.

My $.02.
