Default clacking noise due to worn dogbone engine mount?

I brought the TT back to the shop that did my suspension and the mechanic who observed the noise and inspected it afterwards came back with a diagnosis of a worn-out dogbone (torque) mount? Does that sound feasible?

They wanted to charge me around $180 for the part and another $140 for labor. I checked on ECS and this part with the stretch bolts only go for $36. Am I looking at the wrong replacement part?

Original post

Default you only change the bushing...and you can go with poly bushings in the neighborhood

of $40 IIRC. or swap it out completely with a VF Engineering pendulum mount.

the clacking noise could come form other sources...like swaybar links or other motor mounts...even from suspension bearings. how old is your current strut bearings?

Default brand new strut bearings...changed out when suspension was installed

I'm not 100% convinced that it's the dogbone mount causing the noise. Should I bring it to another shop to get a 2nd opinion?

Default < than an hour to fix, and $16 for the part....

Clacking from the motor rocking back and forth is different from the suspension going up and down. I thought you had this isolated? Regardless, you still need to figure out why your shock bolts are at different levels...

http://www.suspension.com/volks.htm</a
