Default Cleaning routine & new car comments

Good morning everyone,

We took delivery of our 2001 225 TTQC on Wednesday night. It's silver/ebony and had 17 miles when we drove it off the lot. I've been so busy at work this week and have worked such crazy hours so it still hasn't quite sunk in that I actually have a TT in my garage!

Anyway, I want to place an order with Zaino within the next few days so I can keep the car looking good. After reading this forum and the Zaino site here is what I am thinking of ordering:

Z-1 - Polish-lok pre cleaner and gloss conditioner
Z-2 - Polish for clear-coated finishes
Z-7 - Car wash
Z-9 - Leather cleaner
Z-10 - Leather treatment/conditioner
Z-12 - Glass cleaner
Z-16 - Tire gloss
And some cotton towels and a water blade.

The outside of the car:
Rinse the car
Wash with Z-7
Dry with water blade
Apply Z-1, let dry to haze
Apply Z-2, buff with towel
Apply Z-12 on glass, dry with towel
Is Z-12 compatible with Rain-X?
Apply Z-16 to tires
I have wheel cleaner (non-Zaino) and stock 17" wheels. What do you recommend for wheels?

Inside the car:
Z-12 on glass
First apply Z-9 on seats and leather
Does Z-9 also work on the console/dash?
Then apply Z-10 on the leather

How does this look? Tips? Tricks?

I have a small scratch on the back of the driver's seat near the bottom (maybe 1"). Will Z-9 and/or Z-10 help fix scratches in leather?

My Kodak DC4800 camera is on order. Expect many photos when it comes in. Within the next two weeks I'll be ordering an armrest, Forge DV, Becart dimpled plate frame, and Zaino.

Please let me know what works for you when it comes to cleaning your TT.

Thanks!

Andy

Thanks. I thought Z-5 was only for scratches. Is the clay bar necessary? Your instructions look pretty good.

How much time do you allow for the entire process?

Default Larry, great tips - question(s)

1) I know everyone keeps going on about 100% cotton towels etc.

Forgive me for being dumb but can you just tell me what you have and where you got them ie..

4 x Large Bath towel (white?) Target etc
2 x Small hand towel (white?) Costco

I purchased some 100% cotton (USA) towels from costco which are like tissue paper in texture, great.

I know about cutting off the edges but some towels I saw had bits down the middle (like a pattern)

Thanks

Default Another suggestion is p21s shampoo, paint cleanser, towel, carnuba wax and wheel cleaner...

This also comes in a kit so you only need to buy a few extra cotton towels for buffing. I avoid the water blade completely.
