Cluster Issue - options?

The death of the third cluster finally arrived. The RPM is inaccurate by 1000 RPM or so ( happened long ago). The fuel gauge failed followed by the coolant temp gauge and now the speedometer is completely dead and stuck at 120 MPH.
First cluster was replaced by dealer, second one was "rebuilt" (257$). NOW I am considering the following options:
1. Buy a donor cluster, Replace stepper motors. - If I do so, how do I calibrate the gauges? I know that the RPM and speedometer reset when the cluster is powered. Any way to calibrate the fuel and coolant using VCDS?
2. Buy a replacement used cluster and replace (my TT is 2000 = no immo?)
3. Buy stepper motors and replace.
I will appreciate any input
