Clutch pedal feel (heavy/light) questions for the experts... Is it the clutch, hydraulics, pumps?

Just wondering, I am at 101K miles and on the OEM part. Part seems strong, and have had no issues with the clutch that I am really aware of.
I do notice that my clutch pedal feels heavier then when I first bought the car. I am lucky enough to have driven Cheeseheadcubsfan's car, and his clutch was replaced not too long ago. His pedal is MUCH MUCH lighter, much the way my OEM was many many miles ago.
Someone told me today that the pedal feel has nothing to do with clutch wear, but strictly hydraulic issues and that the spring for the clutch pedal is adjustable and it just needs some adjustment.
I find this VERY hard to believe that it is just something that needs to be redialed. My thought was that the heavy pedal was due to a wearing clutch and maybe a less functional hydraulic pump. Can anyone comment. I would like to get my original feel back, and of course not replace the clutch until I need to/move up to a larger output turbo, etc.
Thoughts?

nor is it the hydraulic pump (it's not part of this system).
My '91 V8q's clutch got so heavy the pedal actually broke.

my clutch has always been a bit more stiff, with a shorter catch period... I was thinking to bleed it at some point to see if that does anything

perhaps because as the disc gets thinner, you go further into the pressure plate fingers to disengage?
