Default Clutch pedal feel survey

The other day I sat in my friends new A4 and rowed the gears. I have to say his clutch pedal was SUPER light.

When I got back to my TT, that clutch pedal felt really heavy. As this is my first manual car, I really don't know what is "standard".

After using the A4, I can't help but think how much easier it is to drive. I think my clutch is stock...

Any opinions? If and when my clutch needs replacing are there clutches out there that are easier to actuate?

Default Same here. My A4 clutch is much lighter than my TT's.

I prefer the TT's clutch feel.

Default my TT clutch is much lighter than other TTs i've driven

it's very buttery and soft.. light pedal too.

probably because my clutch is on its last legs

Default If the A4 is a 1.8T longitudinally-mounted engine, yes, they do feel different

and they engage at different points. My Passat with the 1.8T longitudial engine (B5.5/3BG chassis) does take less effort, but engages much further out than the TT clutch.

The reverse is also in the wrong place on the Passat <g>.

Default well it is a sports car>>>

be glad it is not a mechanical clutch! Hydraulics today make these very easy to drive....

High performance clutches can make the clutch feel a bit heavier and grab quicker...Personally, i like that feeling...;-)

Default Same, my friend's '07 A4 has a much lighter clutch.

But my TT clutch is a heck of a lot lighter than my previous 01 Mustang GT's.

Default My car has 40K on it...maybe it'll "wear in"...but are there aftermkt clutches that are lighter?

It doesn't help that my left knee is off/on tender from sports...so the heavy pedal can be a chore sometimes.

Default it's pretty tough to improve on the lightness of the stock clutch

mine was light and others I've driven were the same. Someone may weigh in with a light action aftermarket one, but I can tell you it won't be the SouthBend stg III! Currently in my car, it definately requires more effort... sometimes it's tiring (my left leg's a bit weak from an old injury), but mostly it's a non-issue
