Default clutch problem

When I touched the clutch pedal with my foot it dropped straight to the floor. I had to pull it back with my hand. I also noticed some yellow fluid under the car. The car drove great yesterday.
Looking at previous post suggests it could be the master cylinder or the slave cylinder. I had the master cylinder replaced about a year and a half ago and it has been working fine. Any other suggestions on what it might be? Thanks.

That will be the slave cylinder. Sorry. If your car is a 225 it requires dropping the transmisssion to change it. It is a hollow release cylinder that surrounds the input shaft of the transmission. The yellow fluid is brake fluid. The clutch shares the reservoir with the brake master cylinder. Plan to do at least a clutch disc also while you are there. Labor is the big expense. About 9 hours.

I think all TT Quattros (my 180Q does) have internal slave cylinders. I believe only FWD is external.

If you have more than 60,000 miles or so you might end up replacing everything. The dual mass flywheel can sometimes be resurfaced but most shops discourage it. DMFs are $$$.
