Default Recall to be fully implemented by March or April on all 1.8Ts and 3.0s.

There was a letter, dated January 31, that acknowledged the problem but did not specifically mention a recall. This went out to all owners of affected cars. It appears now(from reading new press releases and news articles) that VW & Audi have decided to do a full recall/replacement on 1.8T/3.0 cars. See the Audi press release here.

Default All coil packs are bad and can fail at any time. Audi will replace them when they feel like it.

You know... the usual.

Seriously, you should have already gotten the usual "you may have a problem" letter from Audi, bu the end result is that if a coil pack fails, Audi will replace it (whether your car is in or out of warranty) on an as-needed basis for now. When there are enough in stock from the manufacturer (late this spring), Audi will replace them all during a scheduled maintenance visit.

Of course, you'll still have to hector the service writer to get them, but Audi "promises" to make good. YMMV. HTH.

does this include the 2000 tt's, or only later production?

Default As my car is out of warranty...I am not sure if I want to go....

back to my dealer for service...I am VERY HAPPY with my mechanic now....you think they would give you the part to replace it yourself??? I should ask....

Default AFAIK, all TTs are included. The 2003MY have coil packs made by a different manf. (Hitachi) but

may have the same problems.

Of course, as tradition dictates, the dealer will repeatedly refuse to provide service and/or make the wrong diagnosis until beaten into submission with copies of the applicable TSB.

It's tradition!

Default Is it not? Audi plans on "replacing all ignition coils whether they fail or not."

This from the Audi PR, which does not mention model years. Is this different from a recall?

Default joe -- are the coil packs different in the my2000's, or...

have there simply been no problems with the earlier model runs?
