Default Coil Replacement

ABC network news tonight covered the problems with all the bad VW and Audi coils. Doesn't just affect the 1.8 turbo. It is also a problem on the whole VW and Audi line, including the new W8 Passat. According to the news program, Audi and VW now say that they will replace all coils on all cars instead of the old policy of replacing one coil at a time on only cars that fail. Apparently, they are getting beaten up badly, and deservedly, for that policy. There was no work on when and how the dealers will start the replacements. It seems that all of us should have the coils replaced even if we have yet to have a problem with them. I know I would like to have the peace of mind of knowing the coils won't quit on me in the middle of a snow storm on a cross county trip.

I think they want to stock pile the coils first then start to initiate a total recall

Default Amazing that the whole voluntary suspension recall on the TT was done to

appease negative press thus avoiding another involuntary acceleration type fiasco, but they are letting people's cars die in the middle of the thruway and risk getting run over .... too weird. Think Gary is right; they just don't have the parts to do it. My dealer is going nuts...they are backed up like crazy with coil pack problems.

Default since it wasn't only Audi that was affect, it's less in their control...Audi and VW are going to get

a tremendous amount of bad press. They should have taken those complaints seriously much sooner.

Default Yes, would say an article on the front-page of the Sunday Automobile section of the

New York Times this week, "A Black Eye for VW and Audi" was the last thing they needed ;-D
