Default Coilovers are done...

The car's being cleaned up, and I will pick it up in an hour or so. The Service Manager says the handling is now just awesome. They ended up only dropping it about 1/4". Said it should settle at least another 1/4", and felt that an 1/2" was probably better than a full inch drop with this car. Do you guys agree with these recommendations? I think that some here have dropped their TTs lower than that.

They want me to drive it for two weeks, then bring it back in for final adjustment and re-alignment.

Default You'll be fine. If you want more drop you can get it when you go back for alignment...

You'll still notice/feel the difference in a MAJOR way. And once it settles initially it wont settle any more on subsequent lowering. Once springs take a "set" the're good to go forever.

I bet after driving it this way tho you're gonna go thru a few pahses:

Phase 1. (immediate) This is great... I LOVE this I dont need/want to go any lower.

Phase 2. Hmmm I wonder what just another 1/2" would feel like? Might be kinda nice to corner a little flatter... let off the gas a little later.

Phase 3. Screw this! I want what Mance and Cliff have all of and Colonel has half of. And I want it now!!!

No matter what your plans tonight Brad. No matter where you go... who you're with. All you're gonna want to do is get back in that car and drive. You're about to drive a REAL TT... for the very first time!

Mark my words little mister! (s'what mom always said)

Default Shouldn't be any drop after weight is back on - also,

You should really be able to do a full alignment now (as well as cornerweighting the car since you have the ability to do it). Depends on how many miles you have, but the alignment and cornerweighting should come close to, if not perfect.

Default I took the opposite approach to lowering.

My rear is all the way down (2" nominal, I actually found 3/8" difference in the stock rear left to right). The front WAS lowered 2 1/2, that is until I scraped on a speed bump I have to take everyday. I raised it 3/8" yesterday. I would have to agree with others here. Yes, it's expensive ($1900 installed). But it's the most essential mod. The entire character of the car is changed. body roll is way way down. It actually rides smoother with less bounce. Less squat on launch and dive on braking. Food tastes better.. OK maybe not, but you get the idea..

Default Strongly recommend cornerweighting - if you are not available

then tell them how heavy you are

Default Re: Coilovers are done...

Let us know how it feels with the coilovers after
they've settled a bit. I'm sure there will be a
difference.
MaTTrix
