Default Colorado high altitude oil recommendation?

'Bout to get the 60K service and oil change and whatnot- considering taking in a separate oil for them to use.

Default 0w-40 or 5w-30

It's hot in Texas so I am trying out synthetic 5w-50. Anyone have a reason why this would be bad?

Default I've seen that claim made several times, and...

nothing is ever provided to back it up. What are you - a rube?

MY owner's manual says 5W-40. What does your's say? Where is the documentation of this "Audi recommendation" which contradicts the Audi provided owner's manual?

I second or thrid that motion. Mobil One 0w40 is what they put in Porsches from the factory and it's what European's put in most of their Turbo charged sports cars.

Disclaimer. Only hear say and no documentation to prove any of this. However following my advice will result in a Happier TT which will thank you with many more years of troublefree smooth running engine.

Nope, I am German and I have been to some of the get togethers over there and most tuners like either the Mobil One 0w40 or the Motul 0w40 or their 5w40 Motoroils

I figure around here it's easier to get a hold of Mobil One since I don't have a Motul dealer around here. What you actually put in your car is up to you.

Default So you don't have documentation either, and..

somehow consider what comes out of informal discussions during enthousiast meetings to be "Audi recommendations?"

Sorry, but I'll trust the professional tribologists at Audi, who clearly state "5W-40."

BTW, Mobil does make a Mobil1 5W-40. It's relabelled Delvac 1, and is marketed as Mobil1 Truck and SUV. It carries all the recommended specs given by AoA in the owner's manual.

Default The owners manual lists other options for when you can't find 5-40.

5-40 was not widely available until recently.
