I think that if I do decided to keep the car more then 3 more years I am going to repaint it- COMPLETLY. I was probibly going to go for a "burnt orange" or something like that. Something that is not avail. now, or on any other Audi. I would have the panels removed, doors taken apart, and bascially everywhere you would see paint to be painted the same color- maybe except the depths of the engine bay.
What kind of costs are we looking at, for stripping, sanding, painting and then clear coating the car? I was going with the assumption of say $6,000.
Please no flame, I know how it goes in terms of repainting. My father used to do it all the time to his 911's when he was younger. He has shared his + and - with me about the whole process. But I figured... good body shop, going all out, with some kind of lifetime guarentee (most shops provide), I think the problems would be very minimal if any at all.

& strip & paint as well. I think 6~8 k was the price I was quoted in the 80's to repaint my beamer.
I'd be care ful about the "lifetime warranty" bit. They say one thing but actually repainting & getting all the minutes minor flaw & such is not as wasy to do....at least ot as I remember it. No human paint job can match the finish & precision of the automated paint facility the TT was painted at.
Good luck though!

I know one place has done 2 total body repaints of Ferraris- that was enough of a resume for me :-)
I figured also, if I did not have them repaint my engine bay (remove the engine) I did not think there would be much notice. I would do the complete lip of the engine area, but not all the way down inside. Really depends what they recommend. If removing the engine is like $600 painted, then sure, if it is $1600 then not a chance.

the car is out of warranty. The paint on this thing just plain sucks. I want some paint that's full of toxins and hard on the enviroment, something strong that you can't peel off with your fingernail.

He had his TT repainted in Ferrari Fly Yellow using the process that you talked about where the body is taken apart and painted inside and out. You could probably even get it done at the same place since he's located in Chicago. If I remember right, he said that it cost him around $8000.
