Default ???? Is the coolant sensor supposed to wobble around in there?

I just replaced the coolant sensor, but it seems like it will leak if I leave it the way it is. It doesn't seem to lock down in place or anything. Someone please help....I've gotta be at work ASAP.

Sounds like you have an extra O ring in there.

Default Bwahaha! That would be like me. Poorly seated O-ring=loss of all coolant!

It makes me chuckle every time I think of that bone-head mistake I made not seating the O-Ring in correctly. Very costly mistake! Lucky I still have an engine!

Default A little followup for a laugh

Just to give someone a little smile, here's how this coolant temp sensor replacement today turned out for me.

Step 1: remove retaining clip from around sensor
Step 2: spend 10 minutes looking for lost retaining clip
step 3: pull on sensor to remove
step 4: cover your eyes from spewing luke warm coolant
step 5: clean the rest of the coolant left in your vehicle from your headlights and shop floor
step 6: replace coolant sensor but forget O-ring
step 7: replace retaining clip
step 8: run and consult forum on why temp sensor is tilting
step 9: discover that O-ring is missing and replace it
step 10: drive a mile to O'Reilly's to get more pink antifreeze
step 11: be forced to coast the rest of the way with the car off because your car has no coolant and is quickly overheating

Hope that makes someone's day.......

Default haha. i would have walked or biked there....

but just as funny...i pulled my sensor out, the o-ring was still intact...i put a new o-ring on the new sensor, go to put it on and like all Audi parts...was tough to get on and broke the retainer clip. went to dealer to buy another...ended up taking the new sensor out and finding two o-rings in. easy fix from there.
