Default Could a dirty MAF be the cause of loss in high end power?

I have been following this debate for a while. I even posted my problem earlier..... see link below.... But after reading a little more.... I wonder if it is because of a dirty MAF. I only have 8200 mi. on the car... but I have had either a K&N or the BMC since I got the car. If I should clean it..... how do you do it? I know that this post has been on here before..... but I hate searching! LOL

Thanks guys/gals....... and have a great day!<ul><li><a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/tt/msgs/736849.phtml">Past post.... Please see.......</a></li></ul>

Default Based on many varied opinions around here....

...a bad or dirty MAF can be the cause of anything from global warming, El Nino, global famine and the downfall of modern fast food. So sure, it is certainly capable of causing high-end power loss. It's the least it could do.

Default I have cleaned my MAF a couple times over the last several months.

I wasn't noticing a problem, just cleaning for the sake of cleaning. This last week, I started noticing power dropping off. Cleaning did nothing.

I replaced the MAF with the VW part...

Power has returned.

You mean to tell me that instead of firing my broker and accountant I should have replaced my MAF?

I think I saw your MAF being interviewed on CNBC a couple of days ago.

Default You'll need to compare the command boost with the actual (manifold)

pressure.

Does the chart show your command pressure/boost? You can tell that there is a boost loss if the manifold pressure deviates from the command boost. For a chipped car, the manifold pressure will tend to be higher than the command pressure.
