A couple weeks ago, I was asking about a weird noise coming....

Funny comparison, I know. But as it turns out, it was my 30K Mi. old water pump going out. When it was pulled from the car, the pump blades were intact. The strange sound was the bearings going out. I'm 170 miles away from a dealer here in Medford, Oregon. I took it to the dealer in Bend, Or. When I got there, the noise was gone. Drove it back to Medford and it exploded as I pulled back into town. Car had to be flatbed back to Bend for them to do the whole job, including all the timing belt stuff. Here's a picture of what the pump looks like, all twisted out of shape. The tech merely lifted it out this way. It's actually jammed into this position. It didn't snap the belt, but it chewed it up pretty good. We can add this to the list of possible things that could go wrong with a water pump. It only had 30K miles on it. Scary!

the service manager about replacing some piece that technically didn't have to be replaced, but comes in the actual kit Audi uses for this job. I think the part was $123 and the labor to put that part in, the would not pay for. Plus my $100 deductible. This is the first time my ext. warranty has fought me on replacing anything. But I only have about 5500 miles to go, until I break 100K. Then, I'm on my own.
